ABOUT PAPER DOLLS

a picture book of pinups superbly narrated by JL Nash.

Firstly, I fell in love with ‘Sakura’. SecondlyI wanted to give these gorgeous beauties an extra dimension of life that perhaps, was hidden from view and thereon, their stories began to whisper and eventually howl into the darkness of night until I stopped sleeping to note them down for lighter moments of record. They demanded depth of emotion and the complications of life that they all hid beneath their cheeky, provocative positions. Printed out and stuck to a wall in my study, I believed in them and felt honour-bound to write a bit of their life for all to see. It’s notalways happy and sometimes it’s not about them completely but they all live in their story or poem.
I’ve loved getting to know these women and hope that you will come to love them too.

Between pen, pencils and bikinis

I love to draw because it grounds me and allows me to see the world exactly as I want to. Drawing fuels my imagination, creating a cocooned space where every distraction and worry fades away. This is what drawing means to me.
A friend once gifted me a book by Master Vargas, and it forever changed my perception of women. I have been deeply influenced by the works of Aslan and Gil Elvgren, searching within each piece for that one perfect stroke, gesture, or pose—the elusive key that could transform simple paper dolls into illustrated goddesses, worthy of admiration.

Then came the Suicide Girls, and inspiration turned into an undeniable urgency.

AND THE WINNER IS...

There is not enough room for everyone.

The competition to secure a place within the pages of the book was intense and ruthless. However, those who didn’t make it have nothing to regret, as in my eyes, they remain my dear paper girls—beautiful, elegant, and timeless.
